Viva and her mouse

Meet mouse...

Viva loves mouse and that's great because D'light and Catty don't have any attachment or interest in mouse.  D'light and Catty have a number of toys they like to play with but, since Viva's arrival all toys have been put up.  Toys come out when Viva is baby gated in another section of the house. Having to put the toys up is usually do to a dog resource guarding but, that's not the case here.  Viva is NOT a resource guarder (great news!).  However, Viva does not do well if D'light and Catty are playing loudly with toys.  D'light and Catty do a lot of growling and shaking of toys and there behavior creates a lot of stress for Viva.  So, we are still managing the environment and that's working out well for everyone.

As you can see Viva thinks mouse is awesome.

She's a silly girl and she often brings mouse back to the mat in the kitchen.

She's a gentle player with mouse

She does love to nibble on mouse

And Viva will toss mouse in the air!

"Oh how I love mouse!"

Catty says "Lots going on in the neighborhood"

"So much to see on our walks!  Mom loves these purple berry bushes."

"Mom says these are some of the last flowers until spring"

"What happened to this lady?"

"Check out at all the stuff at this house!"

"Something is going on and mom is saying something about this thing called Halloween"

"Mom, come look over here..."

"These things are nuts but, they don't scare me! Unfortunately mom cut off my grin in this picture"

"One more crazy house and I prefer to sniff who's been in their lawn!"

While Catty doesn't mind all the lawn decorations she (same with D'light) is not fond of the dressed up running around children.  I'm very sure that Viva is not fans of the dressed up kids. So, we will doing management at our house come Halloween so that everyone is safe and hopefully not stressed out.

Here's a great site full of Halloween Safety Tips

And another of my favorites form 4PawsUniversity and here's the link to her halloween facebook post which is full of very helpful information.

Viva has a Kong update!

Viva has been hard at work figuring out how to eat part of her meal out of kong. This is excellent as it helps with problem solving, building confidence and creative thinking. Here was an earlier post where I introduced the kong to Viva.  Viva learning how to eat out of a kong

This was after about a week of working the kong and look at what a rock star she is!  She's using her nose to move it around and her paw to anchor it while she gets the food out.

Busy girl and it takes her a good 5 minutes to clean out the kong.

"Is it empty?"

"Yup, I did good and ate all my food!"

"Foster mom is there more?"

A visit to Rattlesnake Lake - Part 3

If you missed it, here's Part 1 and Part 2 of this series:

Lots of great hollowed out stumps like this!

I love how the wood has aged and again lots to look at.

The dogs are really having a great time

There were some dogs (leashed and of leash) but, this place is so big that we were able to get enough distance.  It was good work for Viva and she did well all things considered.

D'light wanting to get a birds eye view!

Figuring out how to get down...

He made it down no problem and then watched the birds

Beautiful Viva!

"Check this out!"

The little bit of water that is left of Rattlesnake Lake.
That's Rattlesnake ledge in the background and there is a path that will take you to the top of the rock ridge.

Watching...

 Time to move on

Viva has zero problems with navigating the terrain. She was just in heaven here.

Our sweet, sweet boy!

Cool bark on this stump

The wind picked up but, that didn't slow down the dogs

D'light says "The wind is going to lift me off the ground!"

Figuring out where to go next.  D'light would like to head to the trees since trees = critters.

We are at the other end of the lake.

D'light watching Viva

"What are you doing Viva?"

"Over here D'light, check this out!"

Both dogs were interested in this broken structure.

Looks like an old chimney for a house way back in the day.

A big chunk of tile from a long gone structure

We circle the lake

Time to head back to the car.
The dogs give this a two paws up adventure!

More pictures:

The old water markers

There was a huge heron in the water

And it had a raven buddy

More stumps and rocks

An old, old bottle in stump

And an old can

What a great and beautiful time!  Everyone was tired after this trip.
