Ursa update!

Look who is doing fabulous in her new home - it's Ursa the lemon rattie!  This sweet little girl was surrendered off of Craigs List.  We were thrilled to have fostered her and to help her find her amazing forever home. As you can see Ursa has hit the jackpot - she's turning into a well socialized, happy go lucky girl who clearly is very loved by her parents!

Ursa loves her mom and that her mom works for home!

Dandy's TTouch journey will continue!

As you can see from the posts, Dandy has had amazing results from TTouch and it has been a wonderful journey for both of us!  The plan is to continue the work with his practitioner, focusing on confidence and helping him to improve his awareness of being in his body.  At home we will continue to wrap him and do other movement work.  I have no doubt Dandy will continue to excel, becoming more amazing with each passing day!

Dandy's sit as of 10/19 - you can see the improvement in a very short time

Dandy's sit on 8/3

So relaxed and he LOVES body work!

"I can feel my legs and body!"  Dandy often chooses to put his body in the pose for us and Lori - amazing the progress he's made and the trust he has built with all us.

More work on bending his legs

The great thing about our sessions -- we can mimic this movement work at home!  We have tools like this at home so, we will no doubt be doing this outside of session.  You can now see the muscle definition in his back legs something he didn't have prior to TTouch.  It just warms my heart to see how engage and eager Dandy has become!  Because of all this work, Dandy is much more trusting of people and he frequently tries to be "brave" when he meets and visits with people.

Changing things up -- this is harder work for him in terms of using his back legs especially his back right leg, which he still struggles with bending.  We are looking for him to step up and down with no hoping on or off.  I love the first 2 seconds of this video as he paws Lori's hand.  The great thing... no one is in a hurry and no one has unreasonable expectations of Dandy's progress.  We will just keep working with him and mixing it up.   You can see in yesterday's post and todays post - a lot of the movement work is about slowing down.  This helps the dog to "feel" his/her body which has really helped Dandy.  This boy is a TTouch rock star and we are so proud of him!

Dandy's TTouch journey - the ladder

Check out Dandy!  This is the boy who would shake and shudder.  He's now blossoming into a curious "I''m willing to give it a try" boy!  This was a totally new piece of equipment for Dandy and as you will see with some patience and care Dandy is an amazing boy. Not to mention a sweet rattie who's legs now often bend like a normal dog.   This was a ton of work for Dandy, something that looks so simple yet there was lots of confidence building, trust building and working his body in a way that he could "feel" his back legs.

The ladder was turned on it's back to start out.  Dandy isn't so sure about the height, spacing of the bars and of the legs sticking up.  He's also sorting out the feeling his back legs with the hock wraps.  You can see he needs to relieve his concern but, he comes back to give it another try.  Lori has a ton of patience with Dandy and he knows this so he doesn't feel pressure of doing it wrong or that he's going to be forced to do what we want him to do.

This video was 4-5 minutes after the video above - pretty amazing.

Stepping it up a notch and you can see Dandy isn't so sure about us turning the ladder over.  We were talking wondering if it was too high...

we all decide to give it another try.  When Dandy is worried (that corner was the worry) he can forget that his body can move so, a gentle touch awakens his foot, reminding him that it moves.  Good boy Dandy!

This is about 2 mintues after the above video.  The hoc wraps come off and the half wrap comes back on - a whole different experince for Dandy.

Another couple of minutes and he's a master of the ladder!  One thing about the half wrap is that it can slide down a rub his penis which he's not a fan of - can't say I blame him.

the wrap is removed and up the ramp to the table for bodywork!

Pupsitting Moche!

Figgin went home last night and so this weekend we are pup sitting Moche who is beyond adorable!

To set the mood read this post first " The Rescue Railroad" http://rescuedratties.blogspot.com/2012/11/the-rescue-railroad.html

After picking up Moche and Quita I met up with Quita's pet sitter and did the handoff.  Once home we fed Moche and off for a walk with Catty!  Poor Dandy has a really bad cold so sadly he can't be near Moche.  Dandy is not happy about not being able to visit with Moche and he's even less happy that he has a cold!

"I'm ready to get walking!"

Moche passes Catty's sniff test and we were off!

Moche walks great with other dogs

Moche is great on a leash - the loud city noise make her a bit nervous but, I have no doubt she will roll with it soon enough!

Smelling the Pacific Northwest!

"Anyone home?"

"Thank you to everyone who helped rescue me!"

Moche is a busy girl so getting a decent picture of her is not easy.  She also has a cold so the sweet girl is going to be quarantined during her weekend stay with us.  Don't worry Moche we will find you some fun things to do!

Figgins has been adopted!

Yippy for Figgins he has found his perfect home!  We knew this good natured, well rounded boy wouldn't last and we were right.  Figgins LOVES, LOVES, LOVES kids and we were really hoping he could go to a home with at least one child.  Sure enough Figgins new family included a 6 yr old little boy who Figgins thought was the bomb!  We went over for the home visit and Figgins and his new brother spent a lot of time playing ball, tug and just having a fun time.  Figgins loves attention and he's going to be getting tons of it and clearly he is going to be one very loved boy!  So rest up Figgins as you are going to be having tons of fun and getting the life you certainly deserve!

Happy life sweet boy

We will miss your good natured goofy self

 Dandy will miss you!

No more waiting your turn for bones!

Here's to a happy new life for Mr. Figgins!
