Our in-laws is about a 3.5 hour drive away. As we were driving home, I found out there was an accident on the way. So, it was a good idea to find something to do while waiting out the accident.
I stopped off at Fort Borst Park in Centralia. I had no idea this was such a large park - 101 acres! As I was driving around the park I decided to follow the signs the Borst Home and that was an excellent choice.
We were the only ones in the section of the park!
Lots of beautiful flowers
The Borst school house
The boys wondering if anyone is in school?
Lots and lots of smells and colorful flowers
Off to check out the orchard
"What is this thing?"
It's an Oregon Trail marker
The boys having an excellent time
Checking out the Skookumchuck River
On the path to the Borst Home
This house is a registered national historical place
D'light scanning for critters
More gardens
Lots of heirloom tomato plants
Pretty grape vines

And the sunflowers we're all familiar with
What a lovely detour and so much better than sitting in traffic!
D'light getting his roll on
Working on recall with King
Time to head back to car and get home!
