Before introducing the puppies to our dogs, we set up an expen out on our deck so the adult dogs could check it out.
D'light was more interested in laying in the sun but, Aurora was curious as to what this was all about. |
Time to meet the adult dogs in the house... Catty came out and quickly left. She was more interested in a nap than busy puppies. Aurora was the next one to adventure into puppy land. You can see that Efeste is stressed while Bailey was moving and grooving, wanting to play with the toys on the deck.
It took D'light a couple of hours to make his decision of coming to see what the noise was about. He was pleased that Bailey was enclosed in the expen!
Bailey asks "Where'd you go?!" |
Later in the afternoon, we took down the expen so everyone would have more room to mess around.
Here's what it's like having 2 puppies! Aurora wonders if this is fun or torture?!
Sweet D'light is at least 3x the weight of the puppies but that doesn't matter. These pups make him nervous and our job is to manage the interactions so he isn't overly stressed out. As you can see Bailey is held back as she gets in D'lights face which he doesn't care for. D'light tolerates Efeste (you can see him do a penis check - which he does when he's worried/stressed) and after some interaction Efeste was redirected. And Aurora is like whatever...
D'light came out to lay in the sun. Efeste is very interested in D'light. He doesn't share her interest!
Efeste & D'light |
"Well, I'll give you a sniff..." |
"Maybe you aren't so bad" |
And Efeste still wanting D'light to engage with her. Little girl, that method isn't going to work...
And here's how we wound down the weekend, full of play and introductions. Having puppies is a lot of work for everyone in the house - humans and dogs a like!
