You can see in the picture how Darby's front legs bow. We believe this is due to how she has used & continues to use her front legs as guide sticks. When Darby first arrived to us she would twirl in circles as a way to "map" the new areas. She twirls so that when she hit's something, it's with her body rather than her face. Once she is comfortable with the area she's in, she moves her front legs out as tools instead of the spinning circles. Her walking movement reminds me more of how a horse trots. We do know that Darby was born blind so these tools are just some of the many ways she has adjusted to her blindness.
