Morrison getting out and about - Part 1

We headed back over to Luther Burbank park and found this great boat launch! There weren't any boats but, there was lots for Morrison to see and smell.

"This is cool!"

Lots of different walking surfaces

and bird poop to smell!

going over to investigate the frogs that are making lots of noise

Something more interesting to check out

Watching the seagulls and trying to decide how to get to them.

No luck with catching the seagulls so time to move on!

He was so curious about wanting to look over the edge of the launch

So close!

And he does the "I'm not so sure about this" stretch!

Off to the next section of the park to investigate!

Photo shoot!

Time for some fun pictures of all three dogs!  For anyone who follows my blog you know I try my best to get an "all dog" photo shoot with our two dogs and then our current foster.   It's always fun to see what transpires in the photo session...

Catty and D'light are very excited when we do this as I use a high value food reward and you can see they are licking their chops from the get go! Morrison doesn't know what we are doing but, he wants to be in the mix!

"Let's get this going so we can have some of that!"

Catty gives the camera her "sit pretty" move.
D'light is his normal calm self hoping that will bring a yummy food reward.
As you can see by Morrison's ears he's so excited he can hardly contain himself .

Catty holds her "sit pretty" and the boys are trying their best but, they need to look at me not the food!

Catty says "I'm dealing with amateurs - give me something for sitting like this for so long!"

We regroup - this will be one of many times!

Where's Morrison?!  Trying to get down the stairs to me...

D'light has grown tired of this...
Catty and Morrison give me a great photo!

Time to regroup again - the boys asking Catty for direction!

It worked because I got a better picture.  But, now the sun is starting to get in their eyes...

Here we go again!
Catty hoping for a better outcome, D'light looking adorable and Morrison goofing off!

A good picture except the sun in the boys eyes!

Oh Catty, what happened that the boys edged you out!

Regroup AGAIN!

This time I get two good photos of three good looking rattie's!

Pretty boy working on sit

Morrison is a young boy who like all dogs gives lots of behavior.  Some are great others are a work in progress.  So, as usual we reinforce the behavior we want.  We do this with food and attention - two things Morrison loves.  He is so people focused that at this point, I'd say he prefers human attention to food.

Here we are working sitting and he has a stunning sit to go with his handsome self!

And it can't all be work so we takes breaks for silly time.  You can see by his front paws he moves quickly even on his back!

Morrison is a very smart boy and he's catching on quickly what we are asking for in terms of behavior.  He's a fun little fella to work with!

Morrison visits the small dog park - Part 2

As you will soon see Morrison had lots of fun with his new buddies that he met at the small dog park!

It was nice that Morrison and this little white dog had about 20 minutes of just the two of them in the park.  So lots of one to one play time.

Then the arrival of the 3rd small dog.  I held Morrison for a good 4-5 minutes while the other two greeted each other.  I then let Morrison integrate while closely watching all three dogs.

The little white dog left after about 15 minutes and then Morrison had his new buddy had lots more time to play one to one.

This was a good experience at the dog park and Morrison had a ton of fun.

Here's a great link to Sue Sternberg's tips to keeping your dog safe when visiting the dog park

And what did all that play time give us?  A tired snuggle bug!

Morrison visits the small dog park - Part 1

Morrison loves to play and Catty and D'light don't share his love.  So, I figured I'd see how he would do at the small dog park.  I'm not a huge fan of dog parks mainly due to people not paying attention to the dog interactions and then them not managing their dogs.  I had a backup plan in that if things weren't going well at the park we'd leave.  I was pleasantly surprised with our visit and we had a lovely time as you'll soon see in this two part post.

Morrison ready to have some fun!

Morrison is a very funny and sweet boy!  Initially it was just us at the park so, it was just the two of us entertaining each other.  Morrison as you can see is the entertainer!

"Lets play!"

Morrison takes a jog around the perimeter, hoping a dog will join us!

We work on sit - which really isn't nearly as fun as playing with another dog!

"What's that I see?"

"Is that dog coming to play with me?"

We didn't want to crowd the gate so after a little bit of waiting it was time to see what was going on!

Morrison was so excited he could hardly stand it!  This little fells was roughly the same age as Morrison and his dad said he loved to play.  Perfect!

Some greeting of each other...

And then time to play!

"Catch me if you can!"

Checking out the dogs walking by the fence. One was a small dog the other a big dog.  Morrison and his new buddy are hopeful that the small dog will join them in their fun.

And then we have 3 small dogs!  The new little fella was also the same age as Morrison.

Nice greetings by all three

Adorable little dog knew I had treats!

Play time!

All three dogs did well with each other and the humans were all paying full attention

Morrison happy to meet and give kisses to one of the humans

And then it was time for more playing!

Stay tuned for a post full of video from the park
