We headed down to the vets office for Gramercy's post surgery appointment and it was nothing but good news! In fact on his paperwork under Physical Examination it says: On presentation, Gramercy was bright, alert and responsive. Incision looks great and excellent muscle tone.
They were stunned at how well he's doing so quickly after the surgery.
So Gramercy is off of confinement which he's no doubt very pleased about! Now all we need to do is find this amazing boy a great home. Given his awesome personality and how people oriented his is, that shouldn't be too hard.

Gramercy was much loved at the vet's office, he greeted everyone with kisses which is typical of his personality. On the discharge summary the vet wrote" I absolutely LOVE this boy!!" How sweet is that and for anyone who has met Gramercy they would agree with this statement.
Gramercy has lost 3.5lbs since late December! Gramercy was overweight & bloated when he arrived and this collar wouldn't fit around his neck. Not only does his collar fit, there's even a little room to adjust it.
Since losing the weight, Gramercy is feeling much better - even with his spine issues.
While Gramercy was in pain (when these pictures were taken) due to the his spine issues, the vet gave both Gramercy and I kuddo's for getting the extra weight off his body. His back and legs were already taxed due to a variety of issues out of our control but, the weight we could get a handle on.

Yesterday was neuter day for Ingio - this is never much fun. Inigo took it in stride although he had trouble leaving the incision alone. So as you know that means, time to wear the cone.
We started with the kong cone and it was a bit too big as you can see. And look at that tail a going - we often call this sweet boy "Go-Go" and you can see why!
"But, I can still chew on this bone"
We then switched to the cozy cone and this was a better fit.
As you know Gramercy is on medical confinement. He cannot run, jump or play with anything that he might toss around (like his toys). Also anything he eats or drinks needs to be elevated so his neck & spine are not stretched. We keep telling Gramercy that this level of confinement is just for a couple of weeks while his spine heals. So we rigged up a way for him to chew this very long bully stick.
We achieved this by fluffing up blankets and then you can see he keeps the bone elevated. Tell me who's a very smart rattie boy?!?
The good news is that we head to the vet tomorrow for his post surgery check up. I'm pretty sure Gramercy will be moved to modified restriction which will make him a very happy fella.
We were lucky enough to attend the first outdoor rattie meetup of 2013. AND what a fun time for so many ratties! Inigo & Gramercy had to sit this one out due to medical issues. However, there were a number of NR foster dogs showing off their cuteness and a bunch of NR Alum having a blast. If you ever wonder why people love rat terriers here's a slice of why that is....
Our past foster boy Balboa who is now Corwin. He's doing wonderful and his dad has done amazing work with him. Corwin was under socialized and under weight when he came into foster care. Well those days are long behind him. This sweet boy is much more social & looks fantastic. His dad has him at good weight and his coat looks great. He's a lucky boy it was beyond wonderful to see him!

Here's past foster boy Boushey aka Boo - as you can see he's doing great. Boo is about 7 yrs old and if anyone ever thinks that his age makes him an old fuddy duddy well then they haven't met Boo! And Boushey had a 2 hour walk before coming the meet up. A 7yr old rattie is still a young rattie as you can see...
We didn't foster Tripp but I love the looks and personality of this boy! Tripp is a flyball dog and if you think rattie's are not flyball material well you haven't seen Tripp in action. Tripp is the lead dog in this video (he's brown bi-color). Don't blink or you'll miss him. Little 5 month old foster girl Zuni had trouble keeping up with him!
Here's foster girl Zuni again (she has on the pink bandanna)! Even D'light makes an appearance in this game of chase.
D'light found something Delightful to roll in... This sweet boy has come a long ways and it was fun to see him enjoying himself with so many dogs and people around. This was D'lights second time at a dog park - he did pretty good!
Look at all the boys - That's NR alum Boo, foster boy Cody, NR alum D'light, foster boy Hobbs and NR alum Corwin. A bunch of happy ratties!
